Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream.

November 24, 2011 by Katie

Happy Thanksgiving friends!

A friend generously gave us her ice cream maker when she moved. We use it a ton! We have an entire cookbook of ice cream recipes, but honestly, we stick to the basic vanilla one most of the time. It’s a fabulous base to add new flavors.

2/3 cup whole milk
2/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a medium bowl, whisk milk and sugar together until sugar is dissolved. Stir in heavy cream and vanilla.

Follow directions on your ice cream maker.

This is great right away, though it’s a bit soft. For harder ice cream, put it in the freezer for a couple of hours before serving.

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor? Do you make ice cream at home?
