Tofu Fries.
February 29, 2012 by CarolinaGuys, I think I’m in love. I’ve always been a french fries addict (& eggplant fries…parsnip fries…sweet potato fries…see a trend here?) but am not a fan of all the grease & carbs, neither are my hips (Shakira was right, hips don’t lie!). Good thing I have discovered tofu fries cause they are a) delicious, b) easy to make & c) at only 10 calories for an entire block of tofu, they are super low calorie/low carb — I’m officially in love!
Tofu is one of the ingredients that has a bad rep of being bland, I’m here to tell you to give tofu a chance. The wonderful thing about tofu is that it really absorbs all the spices you put on it. Plus, when it’s baked it gets crispy, like fries. Become a tofu lover & unleash your inner Shakira with these yummy tofu fries. Your taste buds will thank you.
Ingredients
1 Block Extra Firm Tofu
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoons black pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon ground cumin
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Drain & press tofu for 15 – 20 minutes & cut into strips. Toss tofu strips with olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika, & cumin. Bake tofu fries for 25 – 30 minutes until crispy. Buen provecho!
Serve plain or with ketchup & enjoy. Are you a tofu fries convert yet?

Ok, dumb question: how do you press tofu? What should I use?

Not a dumb question at all girl, it’s so important to drain tofu so it tastes good! All you need to do is remove the tofu from the package/water it comes in, wrap in a paper towel & place on a plate. Place a heavy plate or pot on top of the tofu & let it drain for at least 15 minutes & you’re all set!
