Faux Meal.

June 16, 2011 by Carolina

Since I’ve started the 4-Hour Body (4HRB) program I can’t eat pasta or mashed potatoes until my DGW (Dieters Gone Wild) day — that was just way too long for me to wait to cure my craving. All 4-Hour Body meals must consist of a protein (since I don’t eat meat this means extra beans or eggs), a legume & vegetables. I got a little creative to satisfy my craving & created a 4HRB compliant meal that I loved. Starting with Faux Mashed Potatoes.

Faux Mashed Potatoes Ingredients

1 Can Cannellini Beans (White Beans), drained

1/2 TBS Olive Oil

1/2 TSP Sazon Completa

1/4 TSP Garlic Powder

Salt & Pepper, to taste

Parsley, for garnish

I adapted this recipe from an anecdote mentioned in the 4-Hour Body book. This may be the easiest thing I’ve ever made. In a skillet, heat the olive oil & add the cannellini beans. Add seasonings & begin smashing with a fork until you reach your preferred mashed potatoes consistency; remove from heat. Serve with parsley garnish or fresh herb gravy. Told you it was easy! Now lets make ourselves some faux pasta!

Faux Bello Pesto Pasta Ingredients

1 Small Spaghetti Squash

1 Package Portabello Mushrooms, sliced

1/2 TBS Olive Oil

1/2 TBS Garlic, minced

1/4 TSP Cumin

1 TBS Pesto

Basil, to garnish

In the oven, bake the spaghetti squash & cool. Scoop out the seeds, discard, then use a fork to remove the spaghetti squash from its shell. Set aside & begin your mushrooms.

In a skillet, heat the olive oil & add mushrooms, garlic & cumin. Stir & cook mushrooms until tender, about 4-5 minutes; remove from heat. Top the spaghetti squash with the mushrooms, add pesto & toss. Serve topped with fresh basil & enjoy.

Absolutely delicious & my craving was cured, can’t go wrong with that! Buen provecho!
