Sometimes my husband craves things that I won’t normally buy at the store. One of which is the flavored oatmeal packets. I grew up on regular oatmeal. I don’t even usually add sugar. But, it’s too plain for my hubs.
So, I try to make homemade versions at home. I don’t mind the sugar as much as the processed ingredients.
This is super easy, quick and really tasty! I know it’s summer in America, but this would be good on a cool morning (or evening–I can totally do oatmeal for dinner!).
1 cup oatmeal (cook according to directions)
1 small apple, diced
1-3 tbsp brown sugar (to taste)
dash of cinnamon
Cook oatmeal on the stove according to directions (mine calls for 3 cups of water for 1 cup of oatmeal). Bring to a boil and simmer.
Combine apple, brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl (until apples are coated). Add to oatmeal and cook for 3 minutes (more if you want the apples super soft).
