Let’s Travel: Miami.
May 25, 2012 by CarolinaI grew up in Miami so I go down there often to visit loved ones, like this weekend for example — I’m headed home for the holiday! I was telling my friend about my homeward bound weekend & he was so excited to hear about Miami because he’s never been, he asked me for suggestions on places to go & things to see when he makes it down to beautiful Miami.
I never really think of going to Miami as a big trip but after talking to him I realized that Miami is a dream destination for many people. Both Katie & I love to travel so we share our travels often with you (like Ireland, Israel, Scotland, South Africa, The Congo, to name a few). This time I’m going to share with you my favorite things to do in Miami, my home turf! Next time you go to Miami make sure to check out:
Brickell Drive: Brickell Drive has really grown the last few years, it is now a street lined with sky scrappers, restaurants & bars. I love walking down Brickell & checking out cute little shops, grabbing a bite at restaurants like Rosa Mexicano & grabbing drinks at Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita.
Coconut Grove Farmers Market: Did you know Miami is known for it’s delicious produce? From Mangos to Strawberries, some of our favorites fruits & vegetables are grown in Miami. I love paying a visit to Coconut Grove Farmers Market when I’m home, it has the freshest produce around, homemade to go meals, pastas & rice — everything you need to stock your pantry!
Little Havana: The Cuban community is alive & well in the streets of Little Havana, a charming, authentic Cuban community in Miami. This is the place you want to go for the best Cuban coffee in town! I love Cuban food so I love making a pastelito or Cuban Toast run in Little Havana, enjoy the colorful monuments, the friendly people & the culture.
South Beach: No trip to Miami is complete without setting foot on Ocean Drive. Art deco architecture, art, the best restaurants in the city & most importantly, a pristine beach await! Plus, this running trail is not too shabby.
Vizcaya Museum & Gardens: A beautiful mansion on the water with over ten acres of lush gardens & plush surroundings. It’s gorgeous!
These are just a few of my favorites but Miami is chalk-full of amazing things to see & do. If you’ve never been to Miami make it a point to take a trip down south, it truly is a magical city full of energy, culture & sun!
Have you been to Miami? What’s your favorite thing to do in Miami?

Oh you KNOW that I’m all over this post! Miami pride!
Just reading this is getting me excited to move back down in a few weeks. You bet your bottom dollar that I’m going to be living off of Cuban coffee for a while

First thing I did when I got to Miami: Got a Cuban cafe con leche — yum! I really do love going home, you’re going to have a blast living there again!

My favorite thing to do in Miami is run the ING Half Marathon. I’ve done it twice… It’s a great way to scope out the city!
