Get Your Protein Fix.
April 13, 2012 by CarolinaIt’s no secret: I love running; it’s one of my favorite ways to stay fit. When I run I’m asking my body to work extra hard so it’s important to nourish it well. Did you know having two to three servings of protein a day helps keep hard working muscles healthy?
As a runner, crossfitter, dancer & overall fitness junkie, besides getting plenty of protein from a balanced vegetarian diet I also get protein from protein bars & powders. Though there are some protein products at my local grocery store I find it limiting, with not as many options as I’d like. Do you feel the same way? Never fear, I found the solution to our problem friends! I recently discovered NutritionFix.com, a fantastic site with a wide array of protein products. NutritionFix.com has over 5000 products from 75 of the top brands in the health and wellness industry; I no longer have just a couple of restricted choices at the store. With NutritionFix.com at my finger tips I have access to hundred of protein bars, powders & shakes at great prices.
Protein bars are great on the go — I love having a protein bar before a long run. Protein bars are satisfying, come in delicious flavors (here’s my favorite) & fuels me for the run. Sometimes when I don’t have time to eat immediately after a run I enjoy a protein bar to help my muscles recover & hold me over before a meal.
I will confess though, as much as I love protein bars I think I love protein powder more. I’ve said it before & I’ve said it again: I am the smoothie queen (check out my favorite post workout smoothie)! Few things are better than a delicious protein smoothie right after a workout. Protein powder is not only great in smoothies; it works really well in oatmeal or even sprinkled on cereal. A little protein powder before or after a workout, or even first thing in the morning, will help you stay satisfied, help your muscles work hard & help them recover afterwards.
If you’re like me & are working out hard check out NutritionFix.com for all your protein product needs. Check out their other products too, they have a vast vitamin & fitness accessories selection. You’re going to love it!
What’s your favorite protein bar or protein powder?
