Putting on the Ritz…
July 18, 2012 by CarolinaThe Ritz-Carlton tea that is! By now you guys know Katie & I love our tea time; we love having afternoon tea! In Cape Town we enjoyed fabulous tea at the Mount Nelson Hotel. In Detroit, Katie experienced tea at the historic Whitney Mansion. This past weekend I took a few birthday girls out to tea at the Ritz-Carlton in town to enjoy delicious afternoon tea.
From the moment you walk into the Ritz-Carlton Orlando you’re surrounded with beauty; the lobby is gorgeous. We made our way to the tea service where a table was set & waiting for us. We had a choice to pick from a traditional or royal tea service; the traditional tea service came with your choice of a pot of tea plus an assortment of danishes & sandwiches for the table to share while the royal tea included all that plus a glass of champagne. We all opted to have the traditional tea & after reviewing the menu made our decisions. My friends went with the pear caramel tea, the detox tea (featuring a mix of peppermit spices) & the bombai tea. I went with the chocolate chip truffle tea which smelled of all the chocolate goodness in the world & tasted just as good.
We began tea service by each enjoying a cup then dived into the wonderful assortment of treats on the table: cucumber & egg sandwiches, ham, cheese & salmon sandwiches for our meat-eating friends, poppy seed biscuits with lemon creme & an assortment of delicious danishes — everything was absolutely delicious!
After tea we took a stroll to the beautiful pool, then made our way to the lake & laid on the large hammocks the hotel offers. In all, a perfect afternoon! Make sure to check out the Ritz-Carlton Orlando for tea next time you’re out with your girlfriends, are looking for a great place to hold a shower (there was a wedding shower happening when we were there), or just want some time to experience a wonderful cup of tea & danishes.
Have you ever done afternoon tea? If so, where? We’re always looking for new places to try!

OK, we are officially following each other. I was there this weekend with my Mom! We did a spa day. I’ve never done tea there, but it looks super fun!

Too funny! Wish we would of bumped into each other. My next stop at the Ritz is the spa for sure!

Have you have been to Garden View at the Grand Floridian? I take my mom to tea there every Mother’s Day- we love it! We’ve been to the Ritz as well (love going to tea!) and we actually prefer the Grand but that might just be us.

Hi Becky, I haven’t been to the Garden View but I’ve heard great things, it’s on my list to check out. Will let you know what I think once I make it out there

I’ve actually never done a tea time. I’m not a huge tea lover, but when there’s a good cup, I’m game. My madre loves the stuff though, so if I can convince her to come to Orlando over her birthday, I know she’d love it if I took her there. Was it unreasonably pricy?

Not gonna lie, tea is pricey but not just at the Ritz, it’s pretty much all around. For me it’s definitely more of a treat, so it’s totally worth it. It would be great to take your mom, she would love it!

I’ve been wanting to try tea time at the Ritz for so long! It looks like so much fun, and I’m a sucker for tea sandwiches.

Ooh I love the idea of afternoon tea! The Brown Palace Hotel downtown here in Denver does a remarkable tea from what I’m told. Time to convince some friends to do it with me

I heard about tea at the Brown Palace! We wanted to make it out there when we were in town but it didn’t work out. Next time for sure!

I love High Tea! My husband loves tea so we made a point to go to High Tea at the Empress in Victoria Canada when we were there for our anniversary.

GAH! I wish I had known that the Ritz had afternoon tea before I schlepped down to Miami! I’ve never actually been to a tea party myself (does this count as a tea party?), but it looks like a nice change of scenery!

The Biltmore does a great afternoon tea Brittany, you should check it out now that you’re in Miami!

I have! Growing up, my mom and her friend used to take me to Queen Mary’s in Seattle for tea a few times a year–usually special occasions. I loved it. The little sandwiches with the crusts cut off, the tiny desserts…yum!

What a great memory to have! I hope to do the same with my kids if I ever have any haha
