City O’ City: Denver, CO.
July 10, 2012 by CarolinaI’m back! My vacation in Colorado was full of beautiful hikes (more to come on this later), sightseeing, delicious microbrews & most importantly, great eats! Before I left I asked you guys for suggestions & you didn’t disappoint; thanks so much for all your Denver restaurants recommendations! My first stop in the mile high city was for dinner at City O’ City in downtown Denver, recommended by Heather from Better with Veggies (thanks Heather!).
As soon as we arrived in City O’ City I liked the place, it was eclectic with an awesome vibe. Everything on their menu is vegetarian & they offer almost every dish as a vegan dish if you’d like. A vegetarian’s paradise! The menu is large with many delicious options but my friend settled on the seitan “wings”, half buffalo, half bbq. My friend is not a vegetarian yet loved these wings – they were spicy & sweet in all the right ways. I’m usually not a fan of seitan but I stole a taste of both the wings to try them out & can attest they were delicious.
I ordered the udon noodle dish made of mushrooms, bok choy, shallots, thai basil, carrots, daikon & micro greens in a delicious carrot ginger broth. I didn’t end up eating the egg because it was raw (I didn’t know this before I said the egg was okay), but everything else on the dish was great. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the broth had great flavor & the vegetables & mushrooms were spot on.
We left City O’ City totally full & happy with our meals! One of the things I liked most about Denver is how many vegetarian options there are & City O’ City is definitely at the top of that list. If you’re ever in the mile high city make sure to pay them a visit, you won’t be disappointed!

I keep forgetting to buy seitan. I’ve had it a few times and I’ve loved it.
