Yoga June.
June 6, 2012 by CarolinaMarilyn owning bow pose like a boss! I look nowhere near that graceful or beautiful when I attempt it but I digress…
Confession: My workout routine has been all over the place lately. With the Chalean Extreme challenge currently on my plate, I’ve left my two loves (running & yoga) at the waste side…but not anymore.
Okay I take that back, running is on a brief hiatus cause it’s summer, it’s hot, rainy & miserable here in Florida & I just can’t stand the thought of running in 90+ degree weather; I will pick running back up in the “Fall”, when it’s a little cooler around these parts. Plus, I’m not the type of girl that can run on a treadmill for long, but that’s a whole other story. In the Fall I will beginning training for the ING Miami Half Marathon & I’m going for a PR so it’s going to get serious! Haha. But more on that when September rolls around…
Yoga on the other hand? It’s back with a vengeance baby! Though I’m enjoying Chalean Extreme, I desperately miss my cardio & yoga sessions, what can I say, I’m a junkie! Luckily, my studio is having a month-long yoga challenge for the month of June: Practice yoga 26 times in a 30 day period. If you’re doing the math, that means I’m pretty much doing yoga every single day this month. I recruited Hemarie & my friend Amanda to do the challenge with me; I’m happy to have yoginis in crime! Here are the details of the challenge:
June 1—June 30, 2012
Discover the benefits of daily practice. Uncover your personal best.
- Challenge winners receive $35 off the next Unlimited Month, an (optional!) yoga photo shoot and a free Guest Pass
- Challenge winners who also “Check-in” 20 times or more on Facebook will receive a Gift Certificate to a local Mexican restaurant or Spa
- Challenge winners with 10 or more “off-peak” classes (6am, 7:30pm, 7:45pm, 8pm) will also receive a Gift Certificate to a local Mexican restaurant or Spa
I’m currently on day 6 of the challenge & so far I’m really enjoying being back in the studio practicing. I was very sore the first couple of days but now my body’s feeling good, refreshed after every practice, hungry for more poses. I’m really excited to see my practice improve over the next month, maybe even finally hit some of the poses I still can’t do (like crow & a headstand that lasts more than a few seconds). Plus, if I happen to win prizes for practicing more I won’t complain.
This summer I’m really focused on my body: eating cleaner, getting fitter & leaner. So far I’ve seen great results which I will share with you very soon. Stay tuned!
Have you ever done a yoga challenge? Are you following a fitness plan for the summer?

I’m doing one with you right now and after this AM’s Rise & Shine class I’m pretty sure I’m going to be walking funny tomorrow.
Do you ever leave the studio wanting to hear John Mayer? Because I oddly did this AM.

I haven’t done a yoga challenge but would like to sometime. Maybe when I’m somewhere more permanently…
